I read this quote today which led me to make this poster, because today I was meditating in Hebrews 11, if you haven't read it then read it, that's the chapter talking about faith and people who had faith, we read about Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, etc. It's awesome what verses 33-35:
"Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens."
But we sometimes read fast (or even don't) verses 36 & 37:
"And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment, they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented..."
I want you to read these verses carefully again... they were stoned, they were sawn asunder...
Faith is not always easy, it sometimes is hard
Almost at the end it says "And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise"
They didn't saw the promise but by faith they knew that what is waiting them in heaven is much better than what they "missed" here on earth.
